BrainTech Contracts to Epson on Ink Jet Assembly

Vancouver, B.C. — BrainTech Inc. announced a contract to build and install a print quality inspection (PQI) system to improve and standardize the ink jet printer assembly process for Epson Portland Inc. Epson has the option to purchase an additional 11 units to automate its print quality inspection system.

Epson Portland Inc., based in Oregon, was established in 1985 and manufactures ink jet and dot matrix printers for North and South America. EPI has a workforce of 1,800 in Washington County and is the only manufacturing facility in the United States for the Seiko Epson Corporation of Japan.

"The contract with Epson is an important opportunity for us to demonstrate the usefulness of our technology in a real work environment. We're confident that the PQI system will prove to be a vital asset by helping Epson maintain its high standard for customer satisfaction," comments Owen Jones, president of BrainTech Inc. "The PQI is a good example of the type of vision-based solution that we can build quickly and inexpensively with our Odysee™ development system. This allows us to expand into other market segments that require vision technology to stay competitive."
