LaserLand Introduces New HP4000 Products

Sylvan Lake, Mich. — LaserLand USA is pleased to announce a new pin and pin removal tool for the HP4000. The 4000-Pin™ features a recessed head (Fig. 1) and sticks out slightly to enable easier removal. The 4000-Pin is made of steel and is protected by patent number 5,390,002.

LaserLand has also developed a tool for removing the OEM metal pins that are embedded in the toner cartridges. The Pin Pounder (Fig. 2), with its easily gripped handle, may be used to remove the OEM pins before or after removing the photoreceptor drum. The pin on the left side is pounded with the cartridge in a vertical position so it will fall with the help of gravity. After the pin on the right side of the cartridge is pounded, it is easily removed with needlenose pliers. Figure3 shows the PinPounder in place. The tool slides easily into the HP4000, using the cartridge slot as a guide rail. The Pin Pounder initially will be offered for $25. A patent is pending.

LaserLand USA has developed an improved magnetic roller contact for the HP4000. The MagCon-nection™ (Fig. 4) is similar to LaserLand's contact for the EX magnetic roller. The contact fits in the end of the magnetic roller and uses a coil spring to touch the stainless steel metal contact ring in the toner hopper.

Fig. 4

The OEM magnetic roller contact assembly depended upon a thin wire for electricial contact. Corrosion or a dirty wire could lead to a defect due to loss of contact. The metal MagConnection improves surface-to-surface contact significantly both at the inner wall of the magnetic roller sleeve and at the printer contact ring.

The OEM bushing insert that receives the magnetic roller contact assembly is made of plastic. This bushing may wear over time. LaserLand has found that replacing this bushing with one made of metal can enhance electrical contact. The LaserLand ElectroBushing™ is slightly longer than the OEM bushing and will readily make electrical contact with the stainless steel ring that touches the assembly. Thus, not only is electrical contact enhanced, but the LaserLand bushing will last longer than the plastic OEM bushing and will avoid magnetic roller wobble for true axial rotation.

In Fig. 5, an HP4000 mag roller is fitted with LaserLand's Mag Connection. The ElectroBushing is pictured to the left of the roller. The MagConnection rotates inside the stationary Elec-troBushing. Use of LaserLand's MagConnection Spring that fits in the ElectroBush-ing will also enhance performance.

LaserLand's magnetic roller electrical contact system has been designed to improve print consistency and toner efficiency. The system can be used for many toner cartridge cycles. The MagConnection, ElectroBushing and Mag-Connection Spring are protected by patent number 5,634,175 and 5,648,838. Other patents are pending.

Recovery Blades

LaserLand is also pleased to announce the UserFriendly™ Recovery Blade. It is similar to the BlackBeauty™ recovery blade and does not require the use of time-consuming installation tools. To insert, remove the protective liner, place in the waste toner hopper and then pull the built-in handle to remove the stiffening device that supports the blade during installation. The UserFriendly recovery blade is protected under patent numbers Re 35,529 and 5,479,250. Other are pending.

LaserLand will feature these products at the R&R show in Brussels April 1-4.
