Spectrum Research Closes Cartridge Product and Testing Facility
Arcadia, Calif. Spectrum Research Laboratory has announced that it is closing its toner
cartridge products and testing facility. Operating for the last three years as a non-profit certification agency for
remanufactures wishing to sell to the government, the laboratory has taken a different direction.
Dr. David De Mullé, director of Spectrum Research, is best known for inventing the Yankee
Stripper, Eco-Badge, CartGuide, and Waste Toner Catalytic Converter.
Last year, while developing an ink-removing agent for ink jet cartridges, Dr. De Mullé created a
corrosion removal process that was used exclusively on the movie set "Titanic." This process is being
marketed by Spectrum Envirotech.
The patents and rights for the Catalytic Converter have been assigned to a Texas company that
has modified the liquid nitrogen cooled expansion chamber to use three high-power lasers for the conversion.
The working prototype is being used to extract gold from raw ore.
All Spectrum toner testing equipment is available free of charge to any California non-profit
agency, stated Dr. De Mullé. The CartGuide will be continued as a fund raiser for the Highland House
Women's Shelter.
