Xerox' First Laser Printer for Retail Market Released
ROCHESTER, N.Y. Xerox Corporation today expanded its retail offerings for small
office/home office (SOHO) customers with a 12 page-per-minute personal laser printer the
company's first laser printer for the retail market and the first in its class with an iron-clad, three-year warranty.
With a suggested retail price of $699, the Xerox DocuPrint P12 combines laser quality with
a unique variety of no-cost services to keep small offices and home offices up and running.
Selections include on-site service (where available), mail-in service, overnight exchange and self-service kits
as well as a toll-free customer-support number. No other laser printerespecially in this price
rangefeatures such a comprehensive warranty.
"We realize 'just as good' isn't good enough. We need to be better than the best of our
competitors to win in this marketplace," said Rosemary Thomas, vice president and general manager
Xerox North American Retail Operations. "DocuPrint P12's attractive combination of high
performance, first-rate print quality and a three-year, worry-free warranty produces an outstanding value for
cost-conscious small/home office customers."
The black-and-white personal laser printer has true 600 x 600 dots-per-inch resolution. It
incorporates Adobe PrintGear technology, enabling it to run at full speed, even while printing
complex documents such as graphics and photographic images. Because of PrintGear's revolutionary
printing architecture, the DocuPrint P12 can print common business documents faster than other
typical business printers yet preserves robust image-quality and advanced printing features.
In an introductory promotion, buyers of the DocuPrint P12 receive a coupon for a free
software productivity bundle valued at more than $150. It includes full versions of Broderbund
ClickArt, Lotus Organizer and McAfee VirusScan. An optional network interface card converts the
DocuPrint P12 into a networked printer supporting most major environments.
