PARTS NOW! to Debut Powerful New Printer Tester at World Expo'98

Madison, Wis. — A new precedent will be set on Sept. 22, 1998, when PARTS NOW! Inc. of Madison, Wis., debuts the LaserTest EX98Pro laser printer tester during World Expo'98 in Las Vegas, Nev. The LaserTest EX98Pro is the newest and most powerful LaserTest expansion module from Laser Wizard Inc., of Norristown, Penn. The EX98Pro operates with all laser printers that utilize both the Canon EX and EX plus laser printer engines, including the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet Series 4, 4 Plus, 5, and Apple LaserWriter Pro Series.

"The technicians of PARTS NOW! and I were treated to a demonstration of the LaserTest EX98Pro by Inventor Jeff Teets," says Steve Gieshirt, director of training for PARTS NOW! "We were absolutely amazed at the power and ease of use of this product."

In addition to evaluating the laser printer as a whole unit, the EX98Pro can test laser printer components outside the machine itself. As a result of this dynamic new feature, the need to exchange components of the printer in order to determine functionality is virtually eliminated.

"The EX98Pro takes control of the ASIC devices (or State Machine) in a similar manner as the DC Controller d'es, but with a twist," says Jeff Teets, Laser Wizards vice president and LaserTest equipment inventor. "Via a user-friendly menu system, the technician can command the ASIC to perform a specific task, such as operate ONLY the upper solenoid of the input assembly or monitor the registration sensor." These and many more tasks can be performed on the input assembly outside of the laser printer itself.

During a conversation with a design engineer from Hewlett-Packard at last year's WORLD EXPO, Jeff Teets was told that it is impossible to control the ASIC device as described. Teets was able to develop what was thought to be impossible.

He will be available during World Expo at PARTS NOW! booth #138.
