TonerPlus Hosts Association Meeting and Supports TACR Efforts to Combat Prebate
Austin, Texas - TonerPlus, Inc. hosted the December Texas Association of Cartridge Remanufacturers meeting
in Austin. The highlight of the meeting occurred when representatives of TACR and The Office of Industry
Advocacy (OIA) met with numerous legislators at the state capitol to express industry concerns over Lexmark's "Prebate"
initiative. The result of legislative effort was a positive reception by legislators and their staffs to the well-founded
concerns over "single use" and lack of consumer choice in the marketplace.
TACR President Mike Wendt, RECHARGER Magazine's Tricia Judge, OIA's Sue Jones and TACR's
legislative representative Clint Hackney led the visit with state representatives and senators from Texas. Mr. Wendt and Ms.
Judge expressed their gratitude to TonerPlus for not only serving as hosts of the conference, but for the ongoing funding initiative
the company has undertaken to provide TACR and OIA with contributions based on monthly revenue. TonerPlus donated a total
of $1218.77 in November and a total of $1,001.62 in December. Tom Goebel, president of TonerPlus, indicated his
appreciation for the recognition and reiterated his hope that other companies within the remanufacturing industry would follow with
similar funding programs. Robert Goldstein, president of Future Graphics, reaffirmed his company's commitment to a
similar program.
A barbecue hosted at TonerPlus' production facility provided another opportunity for TACR members
and industry leaders to network. More than 100 industry representatives from across the state of Texas and
from outside the state toured the facility, discussed industry-related topics and socialized, while feasting on
delicious Texas barbecue, beer and soft drinks. The conference also featured numerous classes on remanufacturing
related topics, supplier displays and the election of TACR officers for 1999. The conference began on Friday,
December 4th and concluded on Saturday the 5th. Pre-conference activities on Thursday included visits to the capitol
by TACR and OIA members and final preparations for Friday's association visit with dozens of legislators
and legislative staff members.
