3WG Announces InjectaFoam for Ink Jet Cartridges
Alpharetta, Ga. 3WG, Inc. is proud to announce that after almost a year of testing,
development and refinement, InjectaFoam is currently in production. This breakthrough ink jet cartridge
invention (patent pending) was featured while still under development in the
Hard Copy Supplies Journal.
InjectaFoam is composed of thousands of pellets of strategically sized and blended foam.
The InjectaFoam pellets replace the traditional single piece of foam in an ink cartridge, performing as
an outstanding ink storage media. "When we put InjectaFoam to the test, it exceeded all of our
expectations," says Mick Carlotta, vice president of 3WG, Inc. "A single formulation of InjectaFoam can
be used in a variety of cartridges, which reduces development time, lowers inventory costs,
simplifies cartridge manufacture and often increases ink yield." Cartridge designer's now have a single
foam choice that greatly expands the design window leading to more efficient and higher output cartridges.
The traditional foam based ink cartridge is rectangular in shape, matching the limitations
of standard foam shaping. InjectaFoam conforms to any cartridge shape.
InjectaFoam has superior operating latitude compared to a standard piece of foam. Ink
flow through standard foam migrates from cell to cell. Like standard foam, a single pellet of
InjectaFoam has typical internal foam cell structures, however when thousands of pellets of InjectaFoam
combine, they form unique, pellet-to-pellet interface walls, which become the primary conduit for ink flow. "In
a standard piece of foam, you have capillaries. With InjectaFoam, you have capillaries and arteries,
which greatly increases operating latitude," states Michael Dean, President of 3WG, Inc.
OEM, recyclers and aftermarket supplies manufacturers alike can greatly benefit from
using InjectaFoam. Cartridge developers are familiar with the difficulty of choosing foam that
properly functions with development inks. InjectaFoam is a single formulation that works with all water-
and solvent-based inks.
3WG, Inc. can assist cartridge developers in determining cartridge, ink and foam operating
parameters. In addition to InjectaFoam, 3WG, Inc. assists OEM manufacturers with cartridge design,
print head design, printer development, maintenance design and other imaging supplies related
development and testing.
