OTC Expands RITESEAL Line to Include AX Product
Long Island City, NY — In an effort to meet the growing demand for its RITESEALâ„¢
products, Optical Technologies Corporation (OTC) recently expanded its product line to include seals
for the AX cartridge line." President Lester Cornelius said. "The pilot
RiteSeal program was wildly successful, but it took time to gear up production to meet the demand."
"Our initial stock of seals was depleted within weeks, and we've had to triple our
production," said Sales Manager Orson Nicholson. "Customers have discovered that the RiteSeal's
reinforced strength coupled with its ease of use make it a seal of choice. Very soon we will come out with
foam seals for split hoppers."
The seals are available immediately. "Initial orders flew off the shelves," said Ruth Smith,
OTC marketing manager. "We've had to throw production into overdrive to meet requests for all
existing seals as well as the new seals that we are introducing. We expect to complete our line over the
next few months and then we will shift into a proactive mode, making new seals as printers are
introduced."
The RiteSeal offers a host of benefits that have been quickly embraced by
remanufacturers, especially the augmented strength of the seal. "We had been testing prior seal products with some
of our best customers who have grueling testing equipment," said Cornelius. "And they had
experienced occasional bursting of the seals in drop-testing. We were determined to remedy that problem."
OTC's production team developed a unique manufacturing process that led to
RiteSeal strength. "We intend to always be at the forefront of technology development in all areas for the
remanufacturing industry," said Cornelius. "But we are especially proud of our ability to recognize
the needs of remanufacturers to seal cartridges expeditiously under all environments."
RiteSeals are unique in design as they feature a parallel-fiber double-ribbon structure
that ensures optimum strength, allowing them to survive even the most grueling of shipping tests.
While OTC is pleased with the superior burst resistance of the seal, the thicker seal gave rise to concerns
about the ease of seal removal by the customer. "It is hard to balance between a sturdy seal and one that
is easily removed by the customer," said Cornelius. "Our engineering staff designed just the right
materials and structural assembly to accurately create the perfect balance between strength and seal removal."
In addition, the RiteSeal is spot-welded for reinforcement at critical impact points and
has distinctive installation wings that allow for the correct placement of the seal, as opposed to
the common "all-or-nothing" cardboard guides.
The RiteSeal has incorporated 3M adhesive to enhance its strength and durability in a
variety of environments. "The specially-selected adhesive permits ease of removal in any environment
yet remains sturdy, even in the most extreme of climates," Cornelius said.
