RIT's Toner Cartridge Evaluation Services Expanding
Rochester, N.Y. Located on the Rochester Institute of Technology's campus, the
Product Evaluation Laboratories at the National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource
Recovery (NCR3) is expanding its services to meet the growing industry needs for toner
cartridge evaluation.
According to Bob Vukosic, director of the Product Evaluation Laboratories, "The expanded service now includes the evaluation of the following cartridges for yield and IQ performance: EX, NX, OptraS, HP 4000, HP 2100 and SX." In addition to
doing evaluations using standardized test procedures such as ASTM F1856 and ASTM 1453, NCR3 has the capability to do specialized work, such as the evaluation of cartridge seals, remanufactured fuser rollers and other components.
Industry responses to NCR3's growing evaluation services have been positive. "Quick turnaround on the evaluation of our product performance is a very important and augments our extensive in-house testing," says Lew Helfstein of Summit Laser.
"The NCR3 Product Evaluation Laboratories at RIT has been very cooperative in getting our samples into testing promptly and sharing preliminary results via e-mail and fax."
"Although we do considerable in-house testing in the development of our component products," said Lester Cornelius, president of Optical Technologies Corporation, "OTC believes that the independent evaluation of NCR3's Product Evaluation
Laboratories at RIT enhances the credibility of our performance information. We see this as another benefit that we can provide to our customers."
The Product Evaluation Laboratories at NCR3 is also beginning to see international interest in independent evaluation. NCR3 is already working with a Canadian company and is following up on inquiries from Saudi Arabia, Germany, Yugoslavia,
France and Great Britain.
