Static Releases Odyssey<SUP>™</SUP> Xerox<SUP>®</SUP> 212/214 DC/DPC Drum and Matched Toner System
Sanford, N.C. — Static Control announces the release of an
Odyssey
™ drum and toner, the newest addition to their
Xerox
® 212/214 DC/DPC product line. The new drum, Static's premier Odyssey brand, was created through an integrated system development process
in Static's Imaging Laboratories meeting strict criteria to be named in the
Odyssey
™ product line up. The matched toner, designed expressly for use in the Xerox 212/214, addresses the density imaging problem common in this cartridge. Remanufacturers will benefit from
the quality of Static's new toner and its high-density performance that exceeds the OEM. The toner is available in 820-gram bottles and 20-pound toner bags.
Static's Xerox 212/214 DC/DPC toner offers superior performance by delivering high densities of 1.41-1.52 compared to the OEMs' of 1.33-1.48. The Odyssey drum yield is comparable to the OEM range by a slightly increased toner load to attain the yield.
The Xerox 212/214 DC/DPC digital copier, released in May 1998, is a member of the "niche" engine market, offering remanufacturers higher profits, the associated benefits of capturing an untapped market and an expanded customer base. With the current retail
price of the 212/214 cartridge at $345, remanufacturers will profit with this business.
Static has invested in research and development of the Xerox 212/214 DC/DPC to provide quality products that overcome remanufacturing obstacles in this new and profitable market. Current products offered include the
Odyssey drum without gears, the new matched
toner, and a SmartChip™ released in July 2000. Other components under development include a wiper blade, doctor blade and a seal. Static's new matched imaging system for the Xerox 212/214 DC/DPC and the recently released 212/214
SmartChip™ are all the products needed
by remanufacturers to begin to realize a higher return on their investment.
