Spectra Announces Its New Apollo II Print Head Support Kit

LEBANON, N.H. – Spectra, Inc., a worldwide designer, developer and manufacturer of precision piezoelectric inkjet print heads and jetting assemblies, recently announced its new Apollo II Print Head Support Kit (PSK). The Apollo II PSK offers improved capabilities, modular design, and streamlined appearance for high-accuracy dispensing applications.

The Apollo II PSK is a complete, self-contained development and design tool that supports up to four Spectra 256 or eight 128-channel print heads. Incorporating sophisticated electronics and pneumatics modules, the kit provides all the print head tending functions, fluid delivery, and printing capabilities necessary for successful inkjet printing system design and fluid development.

The new Apollo II PSK also includes support for single-pass and scanning architectures. The scanning feature enables systems designers to explore more intricate printer designs and to evaluate these designs well before product implementation.

The Apollo II includes a fully configured and embedded industrial computer that runs using the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system. System features are easily accessible using pull-down menus through a graphical user interface, which displays on-screen options and fields for entering commands. The system’s user interface allows the setting and adjustment of a wide variety of print-head parameters used for fluid formulation development, printer development and overall systems design evaluation.

The Apollo II maintains its predecessor’s versatility by allowing the system to be easily configured and maintained while increasing reliability with improved overall performance.
