ERS Opens New Canadian Distribution Center

ERIE, Pa. – Environmental Reclamation Services (ERS) recently announced the opening of a new distribution center in Toronto.

The expansion offers faster service to customers in Canada with same-day or next-day shipping within most of the region. Canadian customers benefit from no longer having to pay customs and duty charges, as well as low- or no-cost cartridge shipping rates.

ERS Canada is located in the transportation hub of Toronto in a 10,000-square-foot facility at 1070 Kamato Rd.

Toronto native Mark Steckley is the ERS Canadian director of operations. Steckley has more than 12 years of experience in the industry, most of which was obtained at MKG Cartridge Systems. He started in the warehouse, moved into cartridge processing and eventually managed the purchasing department before leaving to establish Dynesty Corp. in 2001.

"I think the move allows ERS to service the Canadian industry from a buying and selling perspective and it makes it easier for everyone to do business here in Canada, hassle free," Steckley said. "Plus, it is exciting to join a company that is expanding and growing. Together we want to promote customer satisfaction and achieve repeat business. I think on the buying side there’s going to be a lot more excitement. There will be a much quicker turnaround because we’ll cut down on transit time plus less hassles with crossing borders."

"Launching ERS Canada is the first step in our overall expansion efforts to establish remote distribution centers," said Mike Welton, ERS general manager. "The next step will be to set up a West Coast facility. Mark’s experience and expertise in the processing and distribution of empty cartridges are a great contribution to these expansion efforts."

Growth into Canada marks the second expansion effort by ERS outside the United States. In 1999, the company opened offices in Salvador and São Paolo, Brazil. As a result, ERS has greatly increased its global presence and worldwide collection volumes.

Most ERS business is conducted through its home office and distribution center in the United States. The company originated more than 14 years ago in Erie, Pa., and continues to thrive near Lake Erie.

Today, ERS customers benefit from faster transit times, faster turnaround on payments and orders, online account access and a new custom inventory system to accommodate all orders with speed and accuracy.
