Hartford Toner & Cartridge Purchases MJC Computer Works
EAST WINDSOR, Conn. — Hartford Toner & Cartridge has purchased MJC Computer Works Inc., an IT business solutions company and provider of technical and training services based in Suffield, Conn. Karl Crandall, the former president and owner of MJC Computer Works Inc., will become IT manager and management head for Hartford Toner’s new computer department.
"As our business has grown year after year for the last 15 years, I’ve seen this day happening at one point as our technology services for printers and fax machines have expanded over time," said Hartford Toner President John Collins. "I had been following MJC Computer Works’ growth over the years and thought it would be a tremendous opportunity to welcome Karl and his company into the Hartford Toner family."
"It’s exciting for me as a small business owner to join the staff of a leading regional business services company," Crandall said. "We’ve held briefings with all of the MJC Computer Works clients and received overwhelming positive feedback."
A former MJC Computer Works client and new Hartford Toner customer, Ascend Financial Advisors, is very happy about the business move. "In addition to the outstanding service we have always received from Karl, we now have another highly reputable company behind us providing all of our office and technology solutions," said David Ciment, managing partner of Ascend Financial Advisors. "It’s a real plus for any business."
Crandall has more than 11 years experience in the IT field and has worked on projects for the State of Connecticut and the Connecticut General Assembly, and spent three years overseas installing computer systems. He holds A+, Network+ and Server+ certifications and is Dell and Microsoft trained.
The new Hartford Toner computer department handles computer repairs, upgrades, network support, software support, security and anti-virus protection. The new department’s services support Windows 9x, Windows 2000 and Windows XP desktop operating systems and Windows NT 3.5x, NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 network operating systems.
"We support both peer-to-peer and client/server networks," Crandall said. "If you are on a peer-to-peer network, we can help you decide if you need to upgrade to a true client/server environment and the most cost effective way to accomplish it. We also offer on-site service, pick up and repair service and drop-off service on all equipment and currently, we’re offering a free two-hour network/PC consultation to all new computer clients."
