Muratec Launches MFX-2830 Copier-Based MFP
PLANO, Texas Muratec America Inc. has released the MFX-2830, a new Segment 2 copier-based MFP. The MFX-2830 replaces the MFX-2530 in the Muratec product lineup and offers high-speed print/copying capabilities, professional finishing options, intuitive user guidance features and a host of digital connectivity capabilities.
"We couldnt be more excited about introducing this product in North America," said President and CEO Henry Mori. "Our dealers have for some time expressed an interest in having a product like this from us. This machine has been responsible for dramatically increasing our Segment 2 unit sales in Japan, and we expect this success to carry over to the North America market."
According to Jim DEmidio, vice president of sales and marketing, the introduction of the MFX-2830 fits with the companys overall strategy of being the "number one, number two." "We believe in the value we provide our dealers as a secondary product line manufacturer," DEmidio said. "But we also believe that value extends beyond the business-level fax machines and Segment 1 MFPs that we have been so successful with."
"The MFX-2830 is a legitimate Segment 2 copier that gives both our large and small dealers an additional option beyond what their primary manufacturers offer," DEmidio said. "With all the industry consolidation going on and many manufacturers expanding their direct sales efforts, we believe that dealers will benefit by having options like the MFX-2830 to differentiate themselves."
Key features of the MFX-2830 include: 28 copies per minute, single-pass duplex scanner, interactive voice guidance system, intuitive touchscreen operation, flexible paper capacity, OfficeBridge Pro digital connectivity, electronic sort, staple and punch finishing, EasyChange SM, high-yield consumables, 100-sheet automatic document feeder, and standard local PC printing and scanning.
The most unique feature of the MFX-2830 is the interactive voice guidance system. This feature, which has proven popular in the Japanese domestic market release of the product, helps users with operational features, programming functions and troubleshooting. It is interactive in the sense that users are guided step-by-step via voice prompt; once a function or requirement is completed, the voice guidance system instructs users what to do next.
"This feature goes beyond the your door is ajar voice prompts found in cars several years ago," explained Harry Nakanishi, vice president of technology and product development. "Both end-users and dealer sales reps will find the feature helpful in learning the full capabilities of the machine and in resolving the occasional paper jam or maintenance issue. And, of course, you can always turn it off."
The MFX-2830 benefits from the digital connectivity of the OfficeBridge Pro option. Part of the OfficeBridge suite of digital connectivity solutions, OfficeBridge Pro expands the capabilities of the MFX-2830 to include network printing, scan to e-mail, network scanning, inbound fax routing and workflow management, and desktop and Internet faxing all through an intuitive browser-based interface.
"The connectivity rate of our Segment 1 MFPs is approaching 75 percent with the OfficeBridge applications," DEmidio said. "When you consider the price point and the features OfficeBridge Pro brings to the MFX-2830, were confident our dealers will have a good deal of success with this combination."
"The introduction of the MFX-2830 is the first of many new products that Muratec will announce over the coming months," DEmidio added. "This is an excellent time for dealers to consider adding Muratec to their product line."
