Cartridge Conservation to Distribute OPC Drum Coating Thickness Tester
SOLDIERS POINT, Australia Cartridge Conservation has been selected as the remanufacturing industrys distributor of the PosiTector 6000 OPC drum thickness tester. The gage is a hand-held device designed to measure the thickness of the non-conductive layer on a curved, non-ferrous material (aluminium).
"This meter is ideal for measuring drum coating thickness," said Terry Mehan, company director. "It allows the technician to physically assess the depth of the new, remaining or failed coating thicknesses. So for those remanufacturers who are looking to take the guesswork out of visual inspections, here is a tool that you should have in your toolbox that will save you money."
The PosiTector 6000 thickness tester takes a reading from immediately below the probe. It can be used to quickly check OPC drums on batches of cartridges. The decision whether to reuse can be made at this point rather than after further processing such as cleaning, polishing or coating. The PosiTector quickly provides the user with a better picture of the optimum wear areas on a range of OEM and aftermarket drums and enables accurate measurements and assessments on purchased OPCs. For smaller remanufacturers, the tester provides more information to assess whether an OPC drum will go one more cycle for a particular customer.
"Over the coming months, Cartridge Conservation will be releasing a Quicktime movie on how to best use this tool," said Mehan. "We already have a number of helpful hints and tips that will help you to successfully master and get the most out of this useful tool. As well, and perhaps more importantly, we are currently compiling some figures and tables on drum wear that will be made available to anyone purchasing the PosiTector 6000. Some of our customers have already indicated their willingness to give feedback on averages that they are getting from different drums and cartridges, and hopefully this can be built into some more useful material."
All customers ordering in the United States will be supplied directly from DeFelsko Corp. in New York.
