Graphic Utilities Reacquired by Jacob Levy

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Saunders Manufacturing announced the completed sale of Graphic Utilities Inc. to original owner Jacob Levy.

Levy has been involved in the inkjet imaging industry since it began in the late 1980s. He and his original partner, Dr. Richard Crystal, formed Graphic Utilities in 1985 and introduced their inks to the emerging inkjet industry in 1989. Graphic Utilities led the way technologically by introducing and filing a patent on the first pigment-based thermal inkjet ink in 1993.
Graphic Utilities was acquired by Esselte in 1997 and then sold to Saunders Manufacturing in 2000.

“I am thrilled to be working with the same staff and management team at GU,” Levy said. “They always were a great team and they continue to grow by adding technical staff. In cooperation with our customers we are able to anticipate changes and new technologies in the marketplace.”

“Jake’s vision and passion for the growth of Graphic Utilities will mean great things for our customer base,” said Director of Marketing Dana Fuller. “Our reinvigorated focus on the development of inks that respond to the latest technology for desktop, wide-format and specialty applications, and our continued dedication to formulation excellence will continue to be the hallmarks that distinguish our products. We have a fresh new look and an aggressive plan for growth through alternative market expansion and specialty ink applications. We are formulating inks for the future of this industry. Our customers will see only positive changes.”
