BCCL Acquires Stake in Abbee Consumables, Peripherals Sshope Ltd.
MUMBAI, India — Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd. has acquired a stake in, Abbee Consumables and Peripherals Sshope Ltd (ACPSL) a Pune, India-based company. ACPSL’s core business includes refilling inkjet and laser cartridges. In 2003, the company launched the first Indian retail chain/franchisee operation, Abbee Sshope, dealing in branded printer cartridge refilling services.
In addition to the refilling services, the retail chain Abbee Sshope also serves as a one-stop shop for ITES solution, fulfilling special needs of individuals, small and mid-sized business and large companies.
B.B.Somani, CEO of Abbee Sshope said, “This deal recognizes the enormous potential of refilling industry in India. Presently the industry is fragmented in unorganized sector that does not have any accountability towards customers. Our retail chain is committed to fulfill the customers demand for quality refilling at reasonable price. We are creating completely new ethos which will change the refilling industry in India.”
ACPSL was set up by Somani to tap the $35 billion global inkjet and laser cartridge refill market.
In India, Abbee Sshope presently has five operational stores in Pune, one each in Mumbai, Gurgoan, Indore, Bhopal and two in Nasik. The company also plans to open around 1500 stores across 65 major Indian cities and towns in the next 5 years, catering to the ever-increasing demand for branded cartridges refilling services.
ACPSL is the first Indian IT consumables company that has started such a sophisticated retail chain to reach to the end users. The company has invested prudently in an ERP system to manage its franchisee operations and loyalty programs seamlessly.
Pune-based investment banking firms Posiview Consulting Partners and RCS Advisors acted as advisors to the deal.
