Companies Recognized by Photizo Group for MPS Excellence
SAN ANTONIO — Winners of the first Managed Print Services Leadership Awards were announced at the MPS Conference, held April 26-28. The Photizo Group, a leading research firm specializing in the analysis of the printing and imaging industry, sponsored the awards program.
The MPS Leadership Awards recognized organizations that demonstrate leadership in implementing, providing or supporting MPS projects. The 2009 MPS Leadership winners and their categories were: Nationwide Insurance (Corporate MPS Implementation); LaserNetworks (MPS Vendor); PrintFleet (Infrastructure Component Provider) and Supplies Network (Infrastructure Program Provider).
The Corporate MPS Implementation category was designed for organizations that have implemented an MPS program using an external vendor to manage the hardcopy fleet. The MPS Vendor award honors a dealer or manufacturer who provides MPS services directly to corporations. MPS Infrastructure Component Provider and MPS Infrastructure Program Provider categories are for companies providing a combination of software, training, services, or hardware for MPS engagements.
“Often independent dealers don’t have the resources to develop a full-blown managed print services program that can be immediately deployed,” said Supplies Network Senior Vice President Barney Kister. “We have put all of the infrastructure pieces together in CARBON SiX so the dealer can launch a turnkey, seamless program while avoiding costly up-front expenses and lengthy delays. This is an extremely efficient program, providing a low-cost MPS solution.”
“In 2005, Nationwide Insurance was looking for a cost-effective alternative to the traditional office printing environment,” said Nationwide Office Technology Engineer Josh Feathers. “Once Nationwide began the managed print program in 2006 we have proven to be the model for corporate implementations with a simple mission: to make printing a faster, simpler, and more powerful tool for our associates. With the new ideas and continued improvements planned for our managed print program, we have every intention to continue being an innovation leader within the MPS industry.”
“MPS engagements increase almost daily, and the awards raise awareness about successful programs,” said Ed Crowley, founder and senior partner of the Photizo Group. “These winners represent the cream of the crop with documented results and innovative ideas. By honoring their excellence and leadership, we showcase the benefits of MPS and validate the approach for other companies considering this growing opportunity.”
The competition was open to all organizations, with winners selected by an independent panel representing a broad cross spectrum of the industry. Judges were Ken Stewart (Sharp Business Systems), Greg VanDeWalker (Great America Leasing), Greg Walters (SigmaNet), Kiran Sanghi (IT executive), Gunnar Lundgren (former HP executive), and panel chairman Doug Johnson (former Print Inc. executive, RedSage Consulting).
Award criteria was based on a 50-point rating of MPS best practices and business benefits such as defined objectives, significant cost savings, productivity gains, or other improvements.
The Photizo Group, a leading research firm specializing in the analysis of the printing and imaging industry and specifically the managed print services market, hosted the first conference in San Antonio. The conference featured panel discussions, interactive sessions and case studies. Conference speakers are MPS practitioners from a range of companies who bring practical, real world experience.
The conference helped companies that have existing MPS programs and those considering launching an MPS engagement.
