XPS Names Van Thiel Chief Executive Officer
VENRAY, Netherlands — XPS, a world leader in the remanufacturing of color and monochrome laser cartridges, has named Joep Van Thiel chief executive officer.
Scott Odom has stepped aside from the position of CEO and returns to his role as chief commercial officer. Odom will oversee global sales and marketing and is particularly committed to developing the markets in the U.S., Latin America, Australia, India and China.
Van Thiel has a longstanding relationship with the industry. He was previously responsible for setting up the European infrastructure for cartridge remanufacturing at Rank Xerox. Later he became the co-founder of XPS, and from 2001 until recently he was the chairman of the XPS supervisory board.
He also worked at Philips Lighting (product development), Kearney (consulting), Orange/Dutchtone (purchasing and logistics), Marblehead Management (consulting), and Avandis Bottling (general manager).
Odom was originally hired by Jan Van Der Steen, founder of XPS, to further develop XPS’s market penetration into new areas. When Van Der Steen unexpectedly died in October 2007, Odom stepped up to manage XPS temporarily through difficult and challenging times. XPS has overcome these challenges and is now entering a new phase with a solid framework to take into the future.
“We experienced a very rapid growth in 2008 and I enjoyed my time at the helm of XPS, but I am looking forward to moving back into a market development role within the company with new opportunities and challenges,” Odom said.
