The office printing market, like virtually every other market, has seen its share of predictions from outside observers and industry pundits that, for one reason or another, take longer to materialize than originally projected. So perhaps it is time to dissect what is really happening with color.

At Xerox’s annual meeting of shareholders on May 21, Chairman and CEO Ursula Burns highlighted the company’s solid financial position, progress in evolving to a services-led, technology-driven company and the steps Xerox is taking to capitalize on growth opportunities. “With services now representing 55 percent of our total revenue and growing to two-thirds by 2017, we believe this is a good time to keep your eye on Xerox,” Burns said. In the company’s recent first-quarter earnings statement, overall revenue was down 3 percent and revenue from the document technology business was down 9 percent, but revenue from the services business was up 4 percent.
