Inkjet Systems Manufacturer to Pump Up Renewable Energy
Looking to boost renewable energy, imaging Technology international (iTi) Corporation will start an equipment manufacturing arm to help the development of industrial inkjet systems that will allow solar cell producers to improve production.
The division, iTi Solar, of the company based in Boulder, Colo., will aim to cut manufacturing costs as well. High manufacturing and materials costs have been a hurdle to the widespread use of solar energy. Inkjet is becoming a crucial enabling application printing technology that moves along manufacturing processes and the production of efficient, low-cost solar cells for both silicon-based and next generation thin-film photovoltaic cells.
