Seiko Epson Names Green Project Inc. in Complaint

Green Project Inc., a remanufacturer of inkjet and toner cartridges based in Southern California, and the company's president Joseph Wu were named in an amended complaint filed by Seiko Epson on June 18 in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Green Project, along with Abacus 24-7 LLC, eForCity Corporation, R&L Imaging Group Inc., XP Solutions Properties LLC, Clickinks.com LLC and Global Business Support Systems Inc. have infringed on Epson patents according to the amended complaint. Outside of Green Project and Wu, the other companies were originally named in a complaint filed by Epson on April 28, 2009.

Wu said, "Though Green Project and I are being targeted by this suit, we will not let this baseless lawsuit divert us from the main focus of our business, which is our responsibility to our customers, to quality and to the environment."

Wu defended Green Project's practice of sourcing its empties. "Green Project only uses empties collected in the U.S.," Wu said, "We confirm this by asking for documentation from our collection companies. We have also designed our remanufacturing process to make sure that it conforms to the law."
