Printersdirect Opens New Manufacturing Facility
ATLANTA, Ga. – Printersdirect recently completed a move into a new 40,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Atlanta, Ga.
The new facility is an investment to further support the managed print services market, by making Printersdirect remanufactured printers readily available for dealers as demand increases and distribution partnerships grow. As it becomes increasingly important to drive down the cost to execute an MPS program, remanufactured hardware will play a critical role in the MPS business model. The facility includes a purpose-built 1,500-square-foot plastics-refinishing facility and a 5,000-square-foot, printer post-testing lab, which is capable of automatically programming and testing up to 56 remanufactured machines simultaneously.
"Our remanufactured printer hardware brand, MPS Ready, enjoyed strong growth in 2011 and is rapidly becoming recognized as a far more profitable alternative to new hardware,” said Christian Pepper, vice president at Printersdirect. “MPS dealers require high-quality engineered products and readily available finished goods inventory. Printersdirect’s MPS Ready distribution partners boast an excess of $500,000 of shippable inventory from nine strategically placed locations throughout North America."
The new facility will allow output to increase to over 5,000 devices per month.
Printersdirect is adding 10 new technicians before the end of Q1 2012 to accommodate the growth trajectory.
“Remanufactured hardware is emerging as ‘the’ category of growth in 2012,” added Norm McConkey, who joined the board of directors at Printersdirect last year. “Serious MPS dealers need to plan how to integrate the product line into their MPS business model.”
