Inkjet Survey Reveals Firsts

In its fourth year, Recharger Magazine’s Inkjet Survey produced some firsts as well as some all-time highs and lows. This year’s survey respondents were, for the first time, predominantly from outside the U.S. with 61 percent of the survey participants being from 21 foreign countries. The percentage of respondents who produce inkjets in-house was the highest ever at 72 percent. The return rate of 3.3 percent for black ink cartridges reported by respondents was the lowest yet. And, for the first time, the percentage of respondents’ inkjet sales from HP models was less than 50 percent of the overall market.

The Inkjet Survey, taken online by 93 respondents, attempts to document the inkjet production and sales trends of the imaging industry aftermarket. Respondents on average have been in business for 8 years. On average, 76 percent of sales for respondents are to end users and 24 to resellers.

The Inkjet Survey has been conducted for the past four years and comparisons with past surveys will be made when applicable. Percentages are based on the number of respondents who answered each question. Percentages don’t equal 100 where respondents were given the option to supply more than one answer.
